You obey in all your activities the contemporary laws, amendments and guidelines in vocational and higher education.
This competence is realized through a continuous display of skills during the teacher studies.

Understanding Competence on Laws and Amendments
One of the core foci under the Profession Pedagogy Program in the Finnish system of education is the area of competence in-laws and amendments. As educators, we are also bound to understand and obey all the rules, amendments, and sets of guidelines formulated to govern the field of education. A teacher will teach, guide, and assess students properly while following the given laws. This competence is developed and demonstrated through continuous learning and practical application during teacher studies, and this process can be enhanced with webinars.
Compliance with Current Legislation and Policies
An educator in Finland should ensure that they are up to date with the newest legislation and the amendments in the laws governing higher and vocational education. He should understand new policies' consequences while ensuring his teaching practices are aligned with new legislation. For example, the National Agency for Education of Finland (Opetushallitus) stipulates principles and provisions that educators are supposed to follow regarding providing high-quality and equal education. To remain up-to-date on any legislature changes, one needs to continue learning through attending sessions and seminars on professional development and seeking consultation from colleagues on best practices to stay competent in legal matters. Professional development opportunities, such as webinars, play a significant role in this ongoing education process.
Teachers should apply the same in their day-to-day tasks; designing curricula that meet the standards of the law, assessing students fairly, and managing classrooms to ensure rights are observed. Practical application during teacher studies helps to solidify this competence.
Assessment also ensures that educators can measure up to the legal standard. Peer reviews and mentor feedback reflect the changes that may be necessary for compliance or in areas of improvements.
Demonstrating Competence in Obeying Contemporary Laws, Amendments, and Guidelines in Vocational and Higher Education During My Professional Pedagogy Studies
During my Professional Pedagogy studies, demonstrating competence in obeying contemporary laws, amendments, and guidelines in vocational and higher education is an essential part of my training. This competence is showcased through various activities and practices that I engage in throughout the course.
First, I acquire a thorough understanding of the current legal framework governing education. This involves studying the various laws, amendments, and guidelines applicable to vocational and higher education in Finland. Key among these are regulations provided by the Finnish National Agency for Education (Opetushallitus) and specific laws such as the Basic Education Act (Perusopetuslaki). Through coursework, seminars, and self-study, I develop a solid foundation of knowledge about these legal requirements.
Second, I continuously update and apply this knowledge in practical contexts. Staying informed about new policies and changes in legislation is crucial, so I participate in professional development opportunities like webinars. These webinars, often featuring experts in educational law, provide in-depth insights into recent legislative changes and their implications for teaching practices. The interactive nature of webinars allows me to engage with experts and peers, fostering a deeper understanding of how to apply these laws in real-world educational settings.
During my teaching practicum, I will put my legal knowledge into practice. I will design and deliver curricula that comply with legal standards, ensuring that my teaching methods and assessment practices are fair, inclusive, and respectful of student rights. For example, I might develop lesson plans that accommodate students with special needs, adhering to guidelines for inclusive education as mandated by Finnish law.
Assessment and feedback are also crucial components of demonstrating legal competence. Throughout my studies, I undergo various forms of assessment, including self-assessments, peer reviews, and evaluations by mentors. These assessments help identify areas where I am successfully implementing legal standards and areas where I may need further improvement. Continuous feedback ensures that I remain compliant with contemporary laws and guidelines and am prepared to handle the legal complexities of my future teaching career.
Lastly, I demonstrate competence in obeying contemporary laws, amendments, and guidelines in vocational and higher education during my Professional Pedagogy studies through acquiring legal knowledge, engaging in continuous professional development, applying this knowledge in practical teaching contexts, and undergoing regular assessment and feedback. By integrating these elements into my training, I ensure that I am well-prepared to navigate the legal landscape of education and provide high-quality, compliant education to my future students.
